Summer of Love - A Workshop Series
The world is a stressful place, especially lately. When the world around us becomes more intense or distresing, our inner world can quickly react to match it’s intensity. While this reaction can help in the short term, it can have negative impacts on our well-being if left unchecked. We end up exhausted, irritable, and overwhlemed – even by parts of our life that we love or that used to bring us joy.
Loving relationships can serve as a safe haven against this stress – a “home” for ourselves and our loved ones, where we can decompress, connect, and be known. A joyful, supportive, and respectful relationship can act as an anchoring point in an otherwise tumultuous world.
These relational “homes,” however, require maintenance to weather the storms of life: skillful self- and co-regulation; understanding and appreciation of how we safely attach; and mindful, compassionate communication are all foundational to maintaining these safe havens.
The Summer of Love Workshop series takes aim at these foundations and supports attendees in strengthening these elements of their relationships.
Led by a licensed marriage and family therapist, this series will provide you with greater understanding of yourself and your loved ones, as well as concrete skills to maintain your connection – safely and securely.
Workshop Schedule and Topics
June 24th 2023, from 10 AM – 12 PM: Self-and Co-Regulation
Being regulated is the first step to safe connection. Learn about your nervous system, how we perceive and respond to emotional threats, and how we can individually and collectively begin to slow down.

Our attachment system can be a source of great comfort or great stress, depending on the context. We will understand our own attachment styles, those of our significant others, and how to use this understanding to the benefit of the relationship.
August 26, 2023, from 10 AM – 12 PM: Compassionate Communication
After understanding our nervous systems and our attachment needs, we can learn to most accurately express what we need and listen with compassion
